The 5A District 11 Semifinal match-up between Mariner and Fort Myers certainly didn't disappoint. In their previous face-off Mariner took home the victory 7-3, but Fort Myers was determined to not let that stand.

Both teams showed up to take home the win. Mariner led the entire game up until the end but could not hold on to win it. Mariner combined for 10 hits including 4 doubles with Ryan Kortarski posting 2 of those joined by DJ Dwire and Xavier Muentes.

DJ Dwire started on the mound for Mariner throwing 6 innings allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run, 2 strikeouts and giving up 3 walks. Xavier Muentes attempted to seal the deal in the 7th giving up 2 hits and 3 runs.

Fort Myers combined for 9 hits on the night including 1 double (M. Magas), 1 triple (M. Tucker), and 1 Homerun (M. Magas).

Fort Myers offered 3 pitchers on the night starting with Owen Augustine throwing 4.1 innings giving up 9 hits, 3 runs, and posting 5 strikeouts. Dylan Thomas stepped in to finish out the 5th, walking 1 and striking out 1. Alexander Mankin closed the game allowing 1 hit and posting 1 strikeout.

Going into the bottom of the 7th, Mariner held on to a 3-1 lead and looked to have the game in the bag. Mariner's Muentes manged to get the first batter out on an infield ground ball. Number nine batter William Davey squeezed in a blooper hit over 2nd base for a single followed by a walk to lead off batter Madrid Tucker putting the tying run on first base. With a 1-0 count Michael Magas crushed a 3 run homer over the left center fence to end the game and gain the walk-off victory for Fort Myers.

Fort Myers will face-off with Charlotte in the 5A District 11 Finals on Thursday night at 7PM at Charlotte High School.
